Funded PhD opportunity at the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney) in collaboration with the University of Oxford on Designing Fair and Democratic AI Systems . The project sits at the intersection of Computer Science , Mathematics , Artificial Intelligence , and Computational Social Choice . The research aims to build the mathematical and algorithmic foundations of democratic AI by developing new axioms of representation and proportionality, then designing algorithms for clustering, data selection, multi-agent allocation, preference aggregation, and alignment of large language models. Funding is strong: a stipend of $39,991 per year for 3.5 years plus a $25,000 one-off Global Mobility Grant .
