Postdoctoral Researcher / Research Associate in Flexible Sensors and Wearable Smart Insole Technologies

Smart and Intelligent Sensors Laboratory at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, UAE is recruiting for a postdoctoral research / research associate / research assistant / research visitor position focused on next-generation intelligent insole technology for healthcare and wearable applications. The project is highly interdisciplinary and centers on flexible electronics , wearable electronics , sensor fabrication , triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) , piezoelectric energy harvesters , self-powered sensing systems , IoT-enabled smart sensing platforms , and AI-assisted data processing for gait analysis and real-time health monitoring. Successful candidates will contribute to the design, fabrication, integration, and characterization of flexible pressure and humidity sensors, conductive materials, flexible electrodes, and energy-harvesting devices, with the goal of building a multifunctional smart insole capable of self-powered operation. Applicants are encouraged from backgrounds in Electrical Engineering , Mechanical Engineering , Materials Science and Engineering , Biomedical Engineering , Nanotechnology , Physics , or related fields. Desired experience includes flexible/printed electronics, sensor characterization, nanomaterials and 2D materials, wearable sensors, signal processing, embedded systems, and IoT. The role offers access to state-of-the-art facilities, a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, opportunities to publish in leading journals, and involvement in technology development from lab validation toward higher TRLs.
