. The project is NIH/NCI-funded and examines how long-term exposure to outdoor air pollution affects survivorship outcomes among breast cancer survivors.
The work uses the Women’s Circle of Health Follow-Up Study, a large population-based cohort of more than 1,900 breast cancer survivors in New Jersey, and combines epidemiologic and clinical data, residential histories, geospatial air pollution estimates, medical records, patient-reported outcomes, and circulating biomarkers.
Research themes include cancer and environmental epidemiology, health disparities, geospatial exposure assessment, biomarkers and systemic inflammation, survival analysis, and environmental mixture methods. The fellow will have opportunities to lead manuscripts and scientific presentations, contribute to grant applications, pursue career development and other funding opportunities, and build an independent research program.
Eligibility highlights: doctoral degree completed or nearing completion in epidemiology, public health, or a related field; strong quantitative and scientific writing skills; and experience with R and/or SAS.
