Assistant Professor of Special Education at Boston College
Boston College’s Lynch School of Education and Human Development is seeking a
tenure-track, full-time Assistant Professor of Special Education
in the Department of Teaching, Curriculum, and Society.
The position is centered on
special education
, with emphasis on teaching and research at the elementary and/or secondary level. The department is especially interested in candidates whose work connects special education with
literacy instruction
(reading, writing),
content-area learning
(English language arts, history, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics),
assessment
,
transition
, or
teacher education
. Interdisciplinary perspectives are welcomed, including work on
disability and multilingualism
, disability and historically marginalized populations, and disability studies perspectives.
The successful candidate will contribute to a strong research agenda, teach across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, advise and mentor students, collaborate on program development, and provide service to the department, school, and university. Experience preparing K-12 special education teachers is desired, and the post highlights a commitment to social justice and diversity in educator preparation.
