Chalmers University of Technology invites applications for a 2-year funded postdoctoral position in AI-driven collaborations, focusing on trust and decision-making. The research will be conducted within the Division of Supply and Operations Management, Department of Technology Management and Economics, in close collaboration with the Interaction Design and Software Engineering division at the Computer Science and Engineering department. The project aims to develop new insights and practical tools for trust-calibrated, AI-supported decision-making in supply chain management (SCM) and transport, addressing how AI can reshape collaboration, trust, and information sharing between organizations. The research will investigate real-world supply chain and logistics settings, examining how trust in AI and between firms influences data sharing, coordination, and joint efforts toward zero-emission systems. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods, the project will develop and test a framework for 'trust calibration' in AI-supported collaboration, helping organizations determine when to rely on AI, when to verify its recommendations, and how to design governance structures for responsible and effective collaboration. A pool of interview data is available to kickstart the project. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in supply chain management, operations management, information systems, or a related field (or equivalent foreign degree) by the time of employment decision. Strong English communication skills, experience in empirical and analytical research methods, and basic coding skills are required. Demonstrated interest in AI, inter-organizational collaboration, trust, or transport/logistics systems is expected. The ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment is essential. Teaching experience and research potential are valued. It is highly meritorious if the doctoral degree was obtained within the last three years. Experience with AI-related topics, digital technologies, data-driven decision-making, mixed-method research designs, and prior industry collaboration or applied research projects will strengthen the application. The position is full-time and requires physical presence throughout the employment. A valid residence permit must be presented by the start date. The postdoc will conduct research, design and carry out qualitative and quantitative studies, contribute to the development of a trust calibration framework, publish findings in leading journals, present at international conferences, engage with industry partners, supervise students, and may participate in teaching at undergraduate/master’s level.
