Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Computational Neurophysiology of Human Motivation

Radboud University Medical Center is advertising a postdoctoral research fellow position in computational neurophysiology of human motivation within the Motivational and Cognitive Control group led by Roshan Cools at the Donders Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging and the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour in the Netherlands. The project focuses on the neurophysiological signatures of value-based decision making and controllability . The work combines experimental design, data acquisition, advanced statistical analysis, and computational modeling of iEEG , single-neuron activity , local field potentials , and behavioral data from human volunteers and clinical patients. The postdoc will also interact with the Cognitive and Clinical Neurophysiology group of Florian Mormann at Bonn University , where iEEG data acquisition and analysis will take place. This is a research-intensive role in a highly interdisciplinary environment that also includes computational modeling, human neurophysiology, pharmacological fMRI, chemical PET imaging, and focused transcranial ultrasound stimulation. The position is suitable for candidates with a strong quantitative background and programming skills who want to work at the interface of neuroscience , decision neuroscience , cognitive control , and computational cognitive science . Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold or be close to completing a PhD in computational cognitive neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related field; have experience with neurophysiological data analysis; and have experience with or interest in computational/statistical modeling of behavior. Fluent academic English is required, while Dutch is not required. A Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is required. Employment details: fixed-term contract, 32–36 hours per week, salary scale 10, with a monthly salary of €3,724–€5,867. The vacancy closes on 2026-11-20 .
