Boston University’s Material Robotics Lab is recruiting two Postdoctoral Researchers in robotics , medical robotics , and related interdisciplinary areas for healthcare applications. Position 1: Soft Optical Shape Sensing for Steerable Medical Robots Develop soft optical fiber sensing systems for steerable catheters with real-time feedback and autonomous navigation for stroke care and neurovascular surgery. Position 2: Vision-Guided Soft Robot for Lung Cancer Diagnosis Develop a miniaturized soft robotic bronchoscope integrating computer vision, robotic needle steering, and stabilization mechanisms for early-stage lung cancer diagnosis and treatment. The projects sit at the intersection of soft robotics , medical robotics , optical sensing , computer vision , autonomous systems , and surgical robotics . Researchers will collaborate closely with clinicians and engineers across Boston University , Johns Hopkins University , and Philips Robotics .
