Postdoctoral Researcher in Quantum Information

The Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Jyväskylä is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher in Quantum Information for the UnloQ project (Unlocking Quantum Computing Benefits). This is a fixed-term, project-based postdoctoral role running from 1 November 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter, until 31 December 2028. The position is part of the Quantum Information and Computation team led by Professor Teiko Heinosaari . The project focuses on a major challenge in quantum computing: the impact of device noise and disturbance on practical applications. UnloQ aims to identify early-stage use cases with industrial relevance, develop noise-tolerant methods, and support industrial pilots that help businesses adopt quantum computing sooner rather than waiting for hardware to mature. The successful candidate should have a relevant doctoral degree completed before the starting date, a strong record of high-quality scientific research, and deep expertise in quantum theory and quantum information. Prior research experience related to noise and disturbance in quantum information processing is especially relevant. The role is well suited to a researcher who wants to contribute to internationally recognized quantum technology research in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The University of Jyväskylä offers a supportive research community, good working conditions, relocation support for candidates coming from abroad, and a salary of approximately €4,000–€4,400 per month gross , depending on qualifications and experience, plus a holiday bonus. The position is based in Jyväskylä, Finland, at the Faculty of Information Technology, a faculty known for research and education across computational science, software engineering, information systems science, educational technology, and cognitive science.
