Ghent University is recruiting for
15 PhD positions
within the European
MSCA Doctoral Network RESCUE
, focused on
groundwater remediation

pore-scale imaging
,
geophysics
, and related environmental research. The projects sit at the interface of
environmental science
,
physics
,
civil engineering
, and data-driven modelling, with collaboration across academic and industry partners in Belgium, France, Austria, Denmark, the UK, and beyond.
Successful candidates will join a multidisciplinary international network and benefit from research training, secondments, workshops, conferences, and transferable skills development. The positions are funded by the European Commission under MSCA regulations and offer a 36-month contract with an attractive salary; additional funding may be available depending on the host institution.
Applicants should hold a
Master’s degree or equivalent
by the recruitment date and must not already have a doctoral degree. The call is open to candidates of any nationality, subject to the MSCA mobility rule. A minimum
B2 English
level is required. Relevant backgrounds include geophysics, geology, geosciences, environmental sciences, physics, chemistry, biology, agronomy, civil engineering, computer science, data science, economics, or related fields. Helpful experience includes scientific programming (Python, R, MATLAB), quantitative analysis, modelling, laboratory work, and field investigations.
