PhD Opportunities in Advanced Materials, Energy Safety, and Sustainable Infrastructure at RMIT University
RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia is recruiting PhD candidates for research in
advanced materials, energy safety, and sustainable infrastructure
.
The opportunities are based in the
Department of Civil and Infrastructure Engineering
and the
Innovative Fire and Facade Engineering (IFFE) Group
, with projects spanning three directions:
safe solid-state electrolytes and next-generation battery safety
;
3D printed green concrete and advanced reinforcement
; and
fire-resistant 3D composites for EV and energy infrastructure
.
Research topics include solid/gel electrolytes, Li/Na/Zn metal batteries, dendrite suppression, interface engineering, thermal stability, battery fire safety, 3D concrete printing, low-carbon cementitious materials, FRP reinforcement, co-extrusion, structural/material optimisation, 3D woven composites, flame-retardant materials, embedded sensing, fire modelling and testing, bushfire resilience, and scalable manufacturing.
The projects are aligned with an active
ARC Discovery Project
and an
ARC Linkage Project
with industry collaboration. Competitive
RMIT HDR scholarships
are available, including
stipend and tuition fee support
.
Applicants with backgrounds in
materials science, chemical engineering, electrochemistry, battery materials, civil/structural engineering, cement and concrete materials, additive manufacturing, polymer/composite engineering, fire engineering, sensing,
or
numerical modelling
are especially encouraged to apply. A strong academic record, relevant research experience, and high-quality publications are preferred.
To apply, email your CV, academic transcripts, a brief cover letter describing your research interests and preferred direction, and English-language evidence to
[email protected]
. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
