Yadi Cao

Yadi Cao, Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Central Florida, is recruiting for a new research group focused on scientific machine learning , AI for Science , surrogate modeling, and scientific agents. The lab’s research directions include learning models that generalize across geometry, physics, and operating conditions with limited data, as well as agents that automate simulations, experiments, and scientific decision-making under real resource constraints. Openings include fully funded PhD students starting in Spring or Fall 2027 , fully funded postdocs with rolling start dates, and opportunities for UCF undergraduates, graduate students, visiting students, and interns. The group emphasizes work at the intersection of computer science, mathematics, physics, and engineering, especially for problems where data are expensive and physical constraints matter. The post highlights access to substantial computing resources, including a dedicated GPU partition on UCF’s Newton cluster with H100s and V100s, plus additional machines supported by the startup package and industry collaboration.
