About this position

CAS-DAAD Joint Fellowship Programme for Doctoral Students offers a funded research stay in Germany for up-and-coming young Chinese scientists from a CAS institute or the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS).

This is a doctoral-level opportunity for candidates who are aiming to gain a doctorate in China and want to complete part of their PhD research at a German university or research institution. The stay lasts 12 to 22 months. Research stays at Max-Planck or Fraunhofer institutes are not eligible.

Funding includes a monthly scholarship payment of 1,350 euro from UCAS in the first year and 1,200 euro from DAAD in the second year, plus health, accident and personal liability insurance and a lump sum travel allowance.

The announcement is hosted in the DAAD scholarship database. Selection takes place after review, and shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview in Beijing in March of the subsequent year.

Relevant study areas are broad and depend on the applicant’s doctoral research topic; plausible fields include biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, materials science, and environmental science.
