About this position

Erasmus+ for Studies at Leiden University is a scholarship for Bachelor and Master students who want to complete part of their degree at a partner university in another European country.

The programme supports outgoing student mobility under the Erasmus+ framework. Eligible students must be registered at Leiden University, be in at least their second year, and have a study period that is a recognised part of their degree. The host institution must have an Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreement with Leiden University.

Funding: limited funds are available. Monthly grant amounts depend on the destination country: Group 1 countries receive €390/month and Group 2 countries receive €330/month. For academic year 2026-2027, students can receive funding for a maximum of 90 days, with additional days at 0-grant status. Green travel support and inclusion top-ups may also be available for eligible students.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must have an address in the Netherlands when requesting the grant, and the mobility must last between 2 and 12 months (with a limited exception for shorter host semesters/trimesters). PhD candidates are not eligible for this study grant. Students going to the UK or Switzerland must use alternative routes described on the page.

How to apply: submit the request in the Study Abroad Portal at least two months before the start of the Erasmus period. Create and digitally sign the Online Learning Agreement, then follow the Erasmus+ checklist and upload all required documents before, during, and after the stay abroad. Late applications are denied.

Important notes: funding is first-come, first-served and not guaranteed even if you meet the criteria. Students may apply only once for the 2026-2027 academic year. Additional support may be available for sustainable travel and for students with medical, financial, or disability-related needs.
