About this position
The International Max Planck Research School for Translational Psychiatry (IMPRS-TP) is offering fully funded PhD positions for outstanding students interested in neuroscience and translational psychiatry. The program is based in Munich, Germany, and is designed for candidates who want to work at the interface of molecular medicine, neuroscience, and clinical psychiatry.
Students can explore molecular, cellular, and systemic neuroscience, with research methods ranging from molecular genetics in animal models to neuroimaging and computational approaches. The training environment emphasizes translational research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and exposure to both basic science and clinical perspectives.
In addition to standard PhD positions, IMPRS-TP offers a distinctive integrated Residency/PhD track in psychiatry for exceptional medical doctors. This track is intended for trainee doctors who want to combine clinical development with PhD-level research training and gain deeper insight into the biological and clinical aspects of psychiatric disease.
The program is a joint initiative involving the Max Planck Institutes of Psychiatry and Biological Intelligence, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich, Helmholtz Center Munich, the University of Augsburg, and the Technical University of Munich, with additional collaborations including the Munich Medical Research School, the Graduate School of Systemic Neurosciences, IMPRS-BI, and King’s College London.
