About this position
PhD Scholarship at the University of Newcastle, Australia in Media Representation & Public Perception of RNA Vaccines and Therapeutics in Australia.
This project examines how RNA vaccines and therapeutics have been portrayed in Australian media and how those messages shape public understanding, trust, and attitudes. The research sits at the intersection of strategic communication, sociology, public health messaging, and digital media analysis, with an emphasis on both qualitative and quantitative approaches.
The successful candidate will analyse major media coverage over the past decade and combine this with survey-based insights from Australian publics. The project is aligned with the NSW RNA Research & Training Network (NSW-RRTN), a NSW Government-supported collaborative initiative connecting universities and research institutes to strengthen RNA science and technology research, training, and workforce capability.
