PhD Scholarship in Responsible Entrepreneurship Copenhagen Business School in Denmark

Copenhagen Business School is offering a three-year PhD scholarship in Responsible Entrepreneurship at the Department of Business Humanities and Law (BHL) in Copenhagen, Denmark. The position begins on 1 February 2027 and is a full-time, fully salaried PhD opening.

The project sits at the intersection of entrepreneurship, organization, technology, and responsible innovation. CBS is looking for an original, theoretically ambitious, and empirically grounded project that examines how entrepreneurial activities, practices, and ecosystems can help address societal and environmental challenges while also considering unintended consequences. The department encourages proposals that engage with topics such as AI and responsible entrepreneurship, AI and entrepreneurial ecosystems, inclusive entrepreneurship, responsible entrepreneurial ecosystems, entrepreneurial capability building, responsible innovation and emerging technologies, entrepreneurship and societal challenges, and universities and entrepreneurship.

BHL is an interdisciplinary department with research strengths in entrepreneurship, business ethics, leadership, governance, culture, business history, and business law. Faculty backgrounds span political science, sociology, philosophy, history, anthropology, theology, design, innovation, leadership and strategy, law, and related fields. The scholarship is expected to connect multiple social and organizational environments and place the human dimension at the center of the project.

The PhD student will be enrolled in the CBS PhD School and will work in a collaborative research environment with supervision from CBS associate professors and professors. The programme is highly international and includes research-related PhD courses, conference participation, and a visiting period at another research institution.

Funding: the scholarship is fully salaried under the Danish collective agreement. The current monthly salary is approximately DKK 30,264 to DKK 36,877 depending on seniority, with a pension contribution of 18.07%. The package also includes tuition fees, office space, course costs, and travel costs according to the current CBS agreement. Teaching obligations correspond to 416 work hours over the three years.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should have a master's degree level education (3+2 Bologna), a strong thesis grade, a high weighted GPA or evidence of being in the top 40% of the class, a relevant humanities or social sciences background, completed the master’s before starting, and strong academic English in writing and speaking.
