About this position

Queensland University of Technology (QUT), in partnership with the China Scholarship Council (CSC), is offering a PhD scholarship program for outstanding Chinese students interested in Urban Artificial Intelligence (Urban AI) and smart city research. Under the supervision of Professor Tan Yigitcanlar at the QUT Urban AI Hub, successful candidates will join a vibrant international research team focused on advancing the frontiers of AI-driven urban innovation. Research topics include AI-driven urban mobility and transport systems, digital twins, urban health and wellbeing, sustainable and smart city planning, climate resilience, environmental monitoring, quantum AI applications, ethical AI in urban governance, and smart infrastructure management. The program is designed to integrate AI with economic, societal, environmental, and governance practices to create efficient, inclusive, and resilient cities. Applicants must be Chinese nationals eligible for CSC funding, with a strong academic background in relevant fields such as engineering, computer science, urban planning, or architecture. The scholarship covers living and research expenses, and QUT offers world-class facilities, expert mentorship, and a dynamic research environment in Brisbane, Australia.
