About this position

Łukasiewicz Research Network – Krakow Institute of Technology is recruiting a PhD Student – Scholarship Holder for the FIRST TEAM FENG project in Poland.

The project, titled “Innovative (Nano)Hormone-Chemotherapy: New Drug Delivery Strategies for the Treatment of Hormone-Dependent Breast Cancer”, focuses on breast cancer, nanotechnology, drug delivery systems, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and translational cancer research. The successful candidate will work on the development and characterisation of novel (nano)hormone-chemotherapy strategies, including compound combinations, nanocarriers, formulations, 3D models, organoids, and in vitro/in vivo studies.

The scholarship is awarded for 24 months at PLN 3,200 per month. The project is funded by the Foundation for Polish Science under the FIRST TEAM programme (European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021–2027).

Applicants must be PhD students enrolled in a doctoral school and hold a Master’s degree in biotechnology, biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacy, chemistry, nanotechnology, or a related field. Strong English, laboratory experience, ability to independently plan and conduct experiments, and familiarity with molecular biology, nanotechnology, and/or drug delivery systems are required. Experience with cancer cell culture, in vivo studies, nanomaterials, formulation characterisation, and related techniques is considered an advantage.

What's required

Strong interest in molecular mechanisms of biologically active compounds and nanomaterials/drug delivery systems is required, along with knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, nanotechnology and/or delivery systems. Candidates should have laboratory experience, be able to independently plan and conduct experiments, analyse and present results clearly, and have excellent English. Accuracy, reliability, strong organisation and communication skills, and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team are required. Applicants must not receive another scientific scholarship under another Foundation for Polish Science programme except START.
