About this position

FAPESP is advertising a postdoctoral scholarship in Physical Chemistry, Electroanalytical Chemistry, and Electrochemical Biosensors for the project Biosensor technologies and microneedle-based controlled delivery systems for disease diagnosis and treatment.

The fellowship is hosted at the Federal University of ABC (Center for Natural and Human Sciences, CCNH-UFABC) in Santo André, Brazil, under the supervision of Wendel Andrade Alves. The research focuses on developing an electrochemical aptasensor integrated with microneedles, using Cr/Au interdigitated electrodes for impedimetric detection of interleukin-6 (IL-6), with morphological, structural, and electrochemical characterization. A research period at Radboud University Medical Center is planned, pending approval of a BEPE grant.

Funding: R$ 12,570.00 scholarship amount. This is a funded postdoctoral opportunity rather than a self-funded position.

Eligibility highlights: PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field, obtained less than seven years ago. Applicants should have strong experience in electroanalysis and electrochemical sensor/biosensor development, including EIS, cyclic voltammetry, and pulse/amperometry techniques. Experience with nanostructured materials, thin films, surface functionalization, biomolecule immobilization, electrode fabrication, and biological or ex vivo assays is advantageous.

How to apply: Submit a single PDF with your CV, a motivation letter (up to two pages), proof of PhD completion, and two referees’ names, institutions, and emails. Use the email subject line “FAPESP PD Application – IL-6”. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an online interview.

Deadline: 2026-09-15.
