About this position
Postdoctoral Scholarship in Experimental Systems Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet / SciLifeLab in Sweden.
The Stagkourakis Lab is recruiting a highly independent postdoctoral researcher to join a technically advanced systems neuroscience program focused on the neural control of survival and homeostatic behaviors, including aggression, fear, and feeding. The lab works with large-scale in vivo electrophysiology, Neuropixels, custom high-channel silicon probes, miniscope imaging, two-photon microscopy, causal perturbations, and quantitative analysis in freely moving mice.
Ideal candidates should have strong hands-on experience in at least one core experimental domain: stereotaxic surgery in mice with viral injections/implantations, large-scale electrophysiology, in vivo imaging, or RNA sequencing/spatial transcriptomics. The post also values independence, complex experimental setup skills, and MATLAB or Python data analysis. Experience with behavioral paradigm design, Arduino, Bonsai, DataJoint, machine learning, scRNA-seq, and collaborative experimental/computational work is advantageous.
This is a scholarship-based postdoctoral position for foreign researchers only. Applicants must hold a doctorate or equivalent by the start date. The scholarship is tax free, awarded for 12 months at a time, and paid in six-month installments. The position is based in Solna.

What's required
Applicants must have a doctorate or equivalent foreign degree, or complete all doctorate requirements before the intended start date. The scholarship is for foreign researchers only; candidates who are resident in Sweden or who have carried out all or part of their academic education at KI or another Swedish institution are not eligible. Strong hands-on experience is required in at least one core domain: stereotaxic surgery in mice with viral injections/implantations, large-scale in vivo electrophysiology (preferably Neuropixels or high-channel silicon probes), in vivo imaging (miniscope and/or two-photon microscopy), or RNA sequencing/spatial transcriptomics. Candidates should also have strong familiarity with the other domains, high independence, ability to build and maintain complex experimental setups, and proficiency in big-data analysis using MATLAB or Python. Experience with behavioral paradigm design, hardware/software synchronization, Arduino, Bonsai, DataJoint, machine learning, collaborative projects, scRNA sequencing, or non-traditional animal models is advantageous. Previous productivity, often publications, is expected.
