About this position
Postdoctoral scholarship in Molecular Immunology at Karolinska Institutet
The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet is recruiting for a postdoctoral scholarship in the Westerberg lab, led by Dr Lisa Westerberg. The project focuses on immunology, immunodeficiency diseases, lymphoma, and lymphocyte biology, with strong links to cell biology, molecular biology, and translational medical research.
The successful postdoc will study immune cells from patient samples, patient-derived cell lines, gene-edited cell lines, and animal models to understand how lymphocytes are affected by monogenetic mutations. The lab works on cytoplasm-nucleus signaling pathways, molecular and cellular alterations in patients’ lymphocytes, and disease mechanisms that contribute to immunodeficiency and lymphoma.
Research methods and technologies mentioned include CRISPR/Cas, AAV gene editing, advanced flow cytometry, microscopy, omics approaches, super-resolution imaging, and 3D genome analysis. Experience with mutations affecting the cytoskeleton in the cytoplasm and nucleus is considered an advantage.
This is a postdoctoral scholarship, not a salaried employment position. The scholarship is tax free and is normally granted for twelve months at a time, paid out on a six-month basis; shorter periods may be possible in exceptional cases.
Eligibility is restricted to foreign researchers coming to Sweden for postdoctoral education. Applicants must hold a doctorate or equivalent foreign degree, or complete all degree requirements before the intended start date. People resident in Sweden, or those who have completed all or part of their academic education in Sweden, are not eligible.
Location: Solna, Sweden. Application deadline: 10 August 2026.
To apply, submit an English or Swedish application in the Varbi recruitment system with a complete CV, publication list, and a one-page summary of current work.
