About this position
Karolinska Institutet’s Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) is offering a postdoctoral scholarship in MYC-driven tumors, with a focus on cancer biology, tumor metabolism, and cell differentiation.
The project is based in Marie Arsenian-Henriksson’s group and investigates how MYC/MYCN oncogenic programs shape tumor cell identity and metabolic dependencies in childhood cancers such as neuroblastoma and medulloblastoma. The work combines cancer and developmental biology, hiPSC-based disease models, differentiation strategies, drug screening, and validation of novel therapeutic targets.
The successful candidate will contribute to experimental design, execution, troubleshooting, data analysis, interpretation, and publication of results. The post is especially relevant for researchers with experience in molecular and cellular biology, advanced cell culture, 3D tumor models, omics-related workflows, imaging, and in vivo mouse studies.
Eligibility highlights: a Ph.D. in Biomedical Science or a related field is required; applicants must be eligible as foreign researchers coming to Sweden for postdoctoral education. English fluency is required. Experience in MYC biology, neuroblastoma, medulloblastoma, tumor metabolism, or cancer cell signalling is considered advantageous.
Funding: the position is scholarship-based, tax free, and awarded for twelve months at a time, paid in six-month installments.
Location: Solna, Sweden.
Application: submit a CV, publication list, and one-page summary of current work via the Varbi recruitment system before the deadline.

What's required
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Science or a related field, or an equivalent foreign doctorate, and be eligible as a foreign researcher coming to Sweden for postdoctoral education. The doctorate must be completed before the intended start date if not yet awarded by the application deadline. Strong interest in cancer biology and motivation to explore cancer therapeutics are required, along with high scientific independence and collaborative skills. Relevant experience includes tumor metabolism, cancer cell signalling, target identification, advanced mammalian cell culture, drug testing, immunofluorescence, 3D cell culture, tumor spheroids, PCR, cloning, Western blotting, lentiviral transduction, genetic manipulation, proximity ligation assays, imaging and quantitative image analysis, lipidomics, proteomics, RNA sequencing sample preparation, omics data analysis, compound validation, drug-response assays, mouse studies, tumor monitoring, tissue collection, and immunohistochemistry. Fluency in English is required; experience in MYC biology, neuroblastoma, or medulloblastoma is advantageous.
How to apply
Prepare an English or Swedish application with a complete CV, complete publication list, and a one-page summary of current work. Submit the application through the Varbi recruitment system before the deadline.
