Postdoctoral Positions in Wireless Networks and AI-Driven Resource Optimization
KTH Royal Institute of Technology is seeking two postdoctoral researchers to join the Communication Systems Division as part of the SMART-6GSAT and 6G DICE European research initiatives. These projects focus on developing the next generation of integrated terrestrial and non-terrestrial 6G networks, with an emphasis on energy-efficient, resilient, and trustworthy AI-driven connectivity solutions. The postdocs will work on AI-assisted network design, optimization, and orchestration across terrestrial, aerial, and satellite segments, leveraging advanced machine learning tools such as LLMs, Transformers, and explainable AI, alongside mathematical optimization techniques. The research environment is highly collaborative and multidisciplinary, involving close interaction with major industry partners like Ericsson and Airbus, as well as other European research centers. Responsibilities include contributing to high-impact publications, demonstrators, and standardization efforts, coordinating research activities, leading collaborative tasks in international projects, and supervising MSc and co-supervising PhD students. Research topics span vehicular and aerial communication systems, AI-based network optimization, integrated terrestrial–non-terrestrial network architectures, joint communication, computation, and sensing, and 3D wireless networks with interference management. Applicants must have a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field, with a strong research record in wireless communications, networking, or optimization. Preferred qualifications include recent PhD completion, experience in mentoring, strong English communication skills, and expertise in areas such as interference management, load balancing, beamforming, MIMO algorithms, joint optimization, integrated satellite–terrestrial networking, or AI/ML-based network control. The position is full-time, temporary for up to two years, and offers a monthly salary. KTH provides a dynamic and creative environment with attractive benefits, emphasizing equality, diversity, and professional development. Applications must be submitted via KTH's recruitment system by November 6, 2025, including a CV, diplomas, publication list, and a brief research statement.
