About this position
Applications are open for 15 fully funded PhD positions in the DECODES MSCA Doctoral Network, titled Deciphering the Splicing Code in Human Disease. The programme is coordinated by the University of Santiago de Compostela and brings together leading universities, research institutes, and industry partners across Europe.
The doctoral projects span RNA biology, alternative splicing, computational genomics, multi-omics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, structural biology, cancer biology, neurobiology, stem-cell and disease modelling, medicinal chemistry, and RNA therapeutics. The network offers interdisciplinary training and research secondments across academic, clinical, and industrial environments. Selected candidates will receive a 36-month employment contract under MSCA Doctoral Candidate conditions, with a monthly living allowance, mobility allowance, and family allowance where applicable.
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant life-sciences discipline, must not already have a doctoral degree, and must have strong English skills. The MSCA mobility rule applies. Researchers of any nationality may apply.

What's required
Applicants must not already hold a doctoral degree. They should hold a Master's degree or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biotechnology, Biomedicine, or another relevant life-sciences discipline. Strong written and spoken English is required, along with readiness to work in an international and interdisciplinary research environment. Applicants must comply with the MSCA mobility rule, meaning they generally must not have lived or carried out their main activity in the recruiting country for more than 12 months in the three years before recruitment.
