About this position

ETH Zurich is offering two paid, full-time doctoral fellowships in Architecture and Technology through the A&T Doctoral Programme. The programme is interdisciplinary and sits within the Institute of Technology in Architecture (ITA), bringing together architecture, engineering, computation, digital fabrication, robotic construction, building systems, structural design, and related research areas.

Successful applicants will join one of the participating professorships, such as Architecture and Digital Fabrication, Architecture and Structures, Structural Design, Digital Building Technologies, Architecture and Building Systems, Construction Heritage and Preservation, or Architecture and Human Augmentation. Applicants are expected to identify the professorship most aligned with their research proposal and state this clearly in the application.

The fellowship is 100% employment for 3.5 years, with funding provided for the full duration and a monthly salary based on the standard ETH rate. The work environment includes excellent research infrastructure and the Arch_Tec_Lab at ETH Zurich.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a university-level Master’s degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field (for example MSc, MEng, or MArch). The programme welcomes architects with strong technical or scientific interests as well as engineers/scientists whose work relates to architecture. English is the official language, and proficiency in English is expected; however, formal English language certificates are not required in the application package.

Application materials: cover letter (1 page max), short CV (3 pages max), portfolio (12 pages max), and research statement (3 pages max). The application must be submitted online only. Do not send applications by email or post, and do not include extra documents such as passport scans, school records, or recommendation letters.

Deadline: 31 January 2027. Shortlisted applicants are expected to be interviewed in mid-March 2027, with final outcomes communicated by 1 April 2027.
