The Doctoral Programme in Immunology (ImmuDocs) at the University of Turku is inviting applications for fixed-term, salaried Doctoral Researcher positions. The programme offers advanced doctoral training in immunology and closely related areas such as immunology-based drug development, diagnostics, and technology development. It is affiliated with the national InFLAMES Flagship and provides access to a broad academic, clinical, and industry network in a strong translational research environment.

The position is intended for full-time doctoral research and doctoral studies in Turku, Finland, with the employment period starting on 1 January 2027 or by agreement during 2027 and lasting until 31 December 2027. The role is designed either to support completion of the doctoral dissertation or to complete a clearly defined subproject within the dissertation. Teaching and other duties may account for only a limited share of working time, allowing focused progress toward the doctoral degree.

Eligible applicants must already hold, or apply for, the right to pursue a doctoral degree at the University of Turku in the Doctoral Programme in Immunology. Applicants should be planning to pursue or already pursuing their first doctoral degree and must not have previously received four years of full-time funding for doctoral studies. The call is open to candidates from the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Technology, or Turku School of Economics, provided they meet the doctoral programme’s criteria and have demonstrated the ability to complete postgraduate studies successfully.

Applicants are expected to submit a research plan that is approved by the supervisor and includes abstract, background, aims and hypotheses, significance, implementation, research environment, timetable, and funding plan. A separate doctoral dissertation implementation and completion plan is also required. Those applying for a salaried subproject must additionally explain the content, implementation, and timetable of that subproject.

The position includes a monthly salary of roughly €2,400 to €3,300 depending on stage of the doctoral degree, experience, and performance.
