About this position
PhD opportunity at the University of Zurich in the Chair of Marketing for Social Impact, Department of Business Administration, supported by an SNSF-approved project on advancing social sensing to trigger the large-scale diffusion of environmental action.
The position is a PhD in Business Administration / Management & Economics with a focus on Social Influence for Social Impact. The research agenda includes diagnosing and overcoming resistance to change, understanding how social impact programs spread through social systems, and integrating behavioral science with complexity science to design interventions that are effective and socially accepted.
Successful candidates will develop quantitative empirical studies on social influence and behavioral change at the individual and population level, contribute to publications in leading journals, attend international conferences and summer schools, assist in teaching, and supervise Bachelor's and Master's theses. The doctoral thesis is expected to be completed within four years.
Methodological strengths are expected in at least two of the following: econometrics, machine learning, randomized experiments (lab and/or field), agent-based modeling, and network analysis. The post also highlights interest in interdisciplinary research, motivation for societally relevant problems, and excellent English communication skills.
