About this position

The International Max Planck Research School on Cognitive NeuroImaging is offering fully funded PhD positions in cognitive neuroimaging. The programme brings together the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences, Leipzig University, TU Dresden, and University College London in a highly international and multidisciplinary doctoral environment.

Research and training span cognitive neuroscience, clinical and translational neuroscience, neuroimaging, and computational/modelling methods. Doctoral researchers gain access to advanced facilities including high-field MRI, MEG, TMS, TDCS, NIRS, and EEG systems, plus a structured 3-year training programme with Open Science, transferable skills, and project-specific methodological support.

Eligibility: applicants should have an excellent master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as cognitive neuroscience, computational neuroscience, psychology, medicine, neurobiology, computer science, mathematics, physics, or related fields. Students nearing completion of their master’s degree are encouraged to apply, and bachelor’s degree holders may be admitted in exceptional cases. Strong English proficiency and relevant research experience are required.

Funding: the positions are fully funded, and doctoral researchers may also receive support for research stays of up to three months at partner institutions.

Deadline: 02 November 2026. Virtual panel interviews are planned for the end of January 2027, and the PhD programme starts in October 2027.

If you are interested in a PhD in cognitive neuroimaging, neuroscience, or related quantitative and medical fields, review the programme details and submit your application before the deadline.
