About this position
Fully funded PhD opportunity at Malmö University, Sweden, in International Migration and Ethnic Relations (IMER), with a focus on survey studies of diversity and inclusion. The doctoral project centers on migration studies, ethnic relations, superdiversity, social inclusion/exclusion, and quantitative survey research. The successful candidate will design and conduct an original research project using data from a large-scale Diversity and Inclusion Survey covering topics such as ethnicity, gender identity, religion, language, sexual orientation, social status, belonging, and attitudes toward other groups.
This is a 4-year full-time doctoral employment with salary according to Malmö University’s doctoral salary agreement. Teaching and other academic duties may be included up to 20% of the position. The research environment is interdisciplinary and internationally connected, with opportunities for supervision, professional development, and collaboration with migration researchers.
Eligibility: applicants must hold a second-cycle Master’s degree or equivalent, or at least 240 higher education credits including 60 at second-cycle level. A background in IMER or a closely related field such as sociology, political science, anthropology, cultural geography, economics, history, social work, ethnology, religious studies, gender studies, or cultural studies is expected. Strong research design, theoretical clarity, and methodological competence are important; quantitative methods, statistics, survey methodology, and related software skills are advantageous.

Funding details
Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
