PhD in International Migration and Ethnic Relations on Survey Studies of Diversity and Inclusion Malmö University in Sweden

Malmö University is recruiting one fully funded PhD student in International Migration and Ethnic Relations (IMER) at the Department of Global Political Studies, within the research environment of the Malmö Institute for Migration Studies (MIM).

The project focuses on survey studies of diversity and inclusion in Sweden, using a unique Diversity and Inclusion Survey and related register/survey data. The research theme is closely connected to migration studies, superdiversity, social inequalities, ethnic relations, belonging, inclusion and exclusion, and quantitative social science methods.

The doctoral student is expected to design and carry out an independent research project based on the survey data. The announcement highlights interest in applicants with strong theoretical and methodological maturity, a solid and original research plan, and experience or interest in quantitative analysis, statistics, data visualisation, and managing/analyzing databases built from survey and register data.

Eligibility requires a second-cycle qualification or equivalent knowledge, with specific relevance to IMER or related social science/humanities fields such as sociology, political science, cultural geography, anthropology, economics, history, ethnology, religious studies, gender studies, and cultural studies. The doctoral programme is 240 credits over four years full-time, and the position may include up to 20% departmental duties.
