About this position

Fully funded PhD opportunity in smart polymeric nanocarriers for precision nanomedicine at the CNRS Institute of Chemistry and Materials Paris-East (ICMPE) in collaboration with CEA-NIMBE, with the degree awarded by Université Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC). The project, FastNanoPISA, focuses on the design of multifunctional polymeric nanovectors using Polymerisation-Induced Self-Assembly (PISA) for targeted drug delivery and precision nanomedicine.

Research topics include stimuli-responsive systems that react to pH, temperature, and reactive oxygen species (ROS), advanced in operando characterization using SAXS, Raman spectroscopy, NMR, SEC, and HPLC, and the use of machine learning and Bayesian optimization to accelerate formulation discovery. This is a strong fit for candidates interested in polymer chemistry, materials science, nanotechnology, and data-driven biomedical research.

Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree in chemistry, polymer chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related field; experience in polymer chemistry, organic synthesis, or self-assembly; and an advantage for applicants with nanoparticle characterization experience such as DLS, TEM, and spectroscopy. Strong English and an excellent academic record are requested.

Funding is described as a fully funded doctoral contract supported by the PEPR DIADEM / ANR programme. The post is located in the Paris region, France. Application materials include a motivation letter/statement of interest (max 2,500 characters), CV, transcripts, degree certificate or proof of completion, and contact details for two academic referees.
