About this position

Applications are open for a fully funded 36-month PhD at Université de Lorraine (France), in collaboration with INRAE, CIRAD, and ISARA, as part of the CEDRE Project under France’s PEPR Sustainable Livestock (Agralife) research programme.

This doctoral project sits at the intersection of aquaculture, climate change, sustainable food systems, agroecological design, and bioeconomic modelling. The research will focus on redesigning freshwater pond aquaculture systems using landscape-scale approaches to improve sustainability and climate resilience, while working closely with researchers, fish farmers, and policy stakeholders.

Research areas highlighted in the call include sustainable aquaculture systems, agroecological design, climate change adaptation, hydrological, ecological and bioeconomic modelling, and participatory research with fish farmers and stakeholders.

Eligible applicants should have a Master’s degree in Aquaculture, Aquatic Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Agronomy, or a related field. A strong interest in interdisciplinary research, modelling, and sustainability is highly desirable.

Location: France. Duration: 36 months, starting around October/November 2026. Deadline: 15 August 2026.

How to apply: Prepare a single PDF with a cover letter, CV, and contact details of three referees. Send the materials to [email protected] for informal inquiries, and complete the official application via adum.fr.
