The student will also spend 1–3 months in the Prairie Pothole Region (Bismarck, ND) assisting with fieldwork such as FSMS surveys, aerial photography, habitat mapping, and pre-season banding.

Eligibility highlights: ideal candidates hold an M.S. in wildlife ecology, natural resources management, computational biology, statistics, geospatial information science, or a related field. Strong quantitative skills in GIS, Google Earth Engine, R, and JAGS are preferred, along with knowledge of migratory bird ecology and management.
