About this position

PhD fellowship at the University of Copenhagen in greenhouse gases, forest soils and biogeochemistry, hosted by the Section of Forest & Landscape Ecology at the Department of Geoscience and Natural Resource Management (IGN). The research addresses how tree species, soil types, and forest management practices influence greenhouse gas emissions and carbon/nitrogen cycling during afforestation and land-use change.

The position is based in Copenhagen, with a research visit to Land-CRAFT at Aarhus University for laboratory work. The successful candidate will join the Biogeochemistry research group and the SCIENCE PhD School. The role includes PhD coursework (30 ECTS), scientific writing, conference dissemination, teaching, and student supervision.

Eligibility highlights: a relevant master’s degree equivalent to a Danish master’s degree, strong data-analysis skills, fieldwork experience, and fluent academic English. Prior experience with greenhouse gas equipment is an advantage. The appointment is full-time for up to 3 years under the regular PhD programme (5+3 scheme).
