About this position
Call now open for a PhD position in the MAGIC project at CIM-UVigo / University of Vigo in Spain.
The project focuses on the temporal and spatial variability of productivity and harmful phytoplankton blooms in the Galician Rías. The research combines oceanographic and remote sensing databases, advanced statistical techniques, and numerical modelling.
The thesis will be co-supervised by Beatriz Mouriño (GOB, CIM-UVigo) and Marta Sestelo (SiDOR, UVigo and CITMAga), within the PhD programme in Marine Science, Technology and Management (DOMAR).
They are especially interested in candidates with a quantitative background in Marine Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or related fields, plus experience in data analysis and programming (especially R and Python).
This is an FPI predoctoral contract linked to a research project. The post does not mention a stipend amount, but it is a funded doctoral contract rather than a self-funded PhD.
Deadline: 4 November 2026.
How to apply: Use the UVigo e-office and the procedure SRHI_Axudas FPI_2025. The call link and application portal are included in the post.
