REQUIMTE – Rede de Química e Tecnologia is recruiting one doctorate holder for a research position in Portugal under an uncertain-term employment contract. The post is linked to the project The endoplasmic reticulum as a target for pharmacological interventions in proteinopathies, funded through ERDF/COMPETE 2030 and national funds via FCT/MECI. The work is based at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP), in Porto, and is associated with research in Pharmaceutical Sciences, especially pharmacognosy, pharmacology, cell biology, and protein-related disease mechanisms.

The project focuses on developing and evaluating natural and semi-synthetic molecules with pharmacological activity at the level of the endoplasmic reticulum in the context of proteinopathies. The successful candidate will contribute to scientific research activities in a highly relevant biomedical area, combining experimental cell biology with drug discovery-oriented approaches. Particular emphasis is placed on in vitro cell culture, assessment of ER stress, methodologies for evaluating protein aggregation, and bioinformatics/docking workflows used in early-stage therapeutic discovery.

This is a full-time temporary research contract for doctorate holders. Applicants must have a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a closely related field, and should have a scientific and professional profile aligned with the duties described. If the doctorate was awarded by a foreign institution, recognition procedures under Portuguese law must be completed by the time the employment contract is signed.

The remuneration is set at EUR 2,408.11 per month, corresponding to level 33 of the Portuguese single remuneration table. Selection is based on the scientific and curricular path, with evaluation of the most relevant output and activities from the last five years, plus documented experience in the technical areas highlighted in the call. Candidates must score at least 50% in the specified assessment parameters to remain eligible.
