This fully funded PhD position is part of the QuanG2 doctoral programme coordinated by Université Grenoble Alpes and hosted in the Grenoble quantum research ecosystem. The project focuses on the development of a 3-wave mixing nanowire Josephson parametric amplifier, with strong links to quantum physics, nanophysics, nanofabrication, and materials science.

The research aims to advance hybrid superconductor–semiconductor technologies for superconducting qubits, quantum-limited amplifiers, and topological-quantum research. The PhD student will fabricate Josephson junctions using inclined InAs nanowires, evaluate superconducting thin films and DC transport properties at low temperature, and optimize growth conditions to build a functional amplifier operating in the GHz range. Measurements will be carried out in a dilution refrigerator to study gate tunability, noise temperature, magnetic-field resilience, and potentially squeezed states of light.

Eligibility: applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent by the deadline, must not already hold a doctorate, and must satisfy the MSCA mobility rule (not having lived or worked in France for more than 12 months in the previous 36 months). Current employees of the host laboratory are not eligible. There are no nationality or age restrictions.

Funding: the position is described as a fully funded three-year PhD within the COFUND QuanG2 programme, with support for research and training activities.
