About this position

PhD Graduate Research Assistantship in Landscape Fitness & Migratory Connectivity for Wildlife Conservation at Utah State University, in collaboration with Brigham Young University and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.

Funding includes a $28,000/year stipend for 4 years, full tuition waiver, health insurance coverage, travel support for conferences, and access to field and computational resources. The position starts Fall 2026 or Spring 2027, with Fall 2026 preferred.

Applicants should have an M.S. degree in wildlife biology, ecology, mammalogy, or a closely related field by the start date; exceptional B.S. applicants with relevant experience may be considered. Required strengths include large mammal field work, statistical analysis in R/Python, strong communication, collaborative experience, willingness for strenuous remote field work, and a valid driver’s license with 4WD capability. Preferred experience includes landscape ecology, GIS/remote sensing, spatial modeling, agency collaboration, and publication experience.
