About this position

Estonian Business School is inviting applications for a PhD in Management (specialisation in Management) in Tallinn, Estonia. This doctoral programme is designed for candidates interested in management, organisations, human behaviour, strategy, organisational behaviour, finance, leadership, innovation, and organisational change. The programme emphasizes high-quality doctoral research that can be connected to faculty research interests, knowledge teams, research projects, external collaborations, and business-relevant challenges.

The PhD is a 4-year / 240 ECTS programme taught in English. It is suitable for applicants considering an academic or research-focused career, as well as experienced professionals who want to deepen their management expertise. Research topics may be self-developed or aligned with EBS faculty capabilities, Knowledge Teams, or externally funded research projects. Students may follow one of two routes: apply for a Junior Research Fellow position or study as an individual doctoral student.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent, provide bachelor’s and master’s diplomas and transcripts, a master’s thesis, a motivation letter, a research idea proposal, and a CV. English proficiency at B2 level is required (examples include IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 85, Cambridge B2, Duolingo 110, or prior studies fully in English).

Funding and fees: individual doctoral students pay a tuition fee of €600/month (€7200/year), which can also be covered through in-kind contributions such as teaching, external projects, or spin-off company involvement. The post also notes that EU/EEA, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan applicants are exempt from the application fee.

Deadline: EU application deadline is 1 August 2026. Non-EU applicants have an earlier deadline of 1 May 2026. Applications are submitted via DreamApply.

For questions, contact [email protected]. The coordinator listed is Sigrid Lainevee (Research and Doctoral Studies Coordinator).
