About this position

Doctoral studentship in Medical Radiation Physics at Lund University, within the Nuclear Medicine Physics research group. The project focuses on image-based activity quantification for therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, with emphasis on quantitative imaging, dosimetry, SPECT, and tomographic reconstruction.

The group works closely with clinicians at Skåne University Hospital and develops methods used in clinical studies. The doctoral project aims to improve understanding of how motion during image acquisition affects absorbed-dose estimation and how these effects can be compensated for during reconstruction. The work may include method development, validation, Monte Carlo simulations of gamma cameras, experimental work, and analysis of patient data.

Applicants should have a strong background in medical physics or a closely related field, with relevant coursework in nuclear medicine physics. The selection process also values strong mathematical skills, programming ability, English proficiency, knowledge of quantitative SPECT and reconstruction, experience with unsealed radioactive sources, and interest in AI-based methods.

This is a full-time temporary doctoral position starting 2026-11-01 (or as agreed). The standard doctoral duration is 4 years, with possible extension for up to 20% teaching and departmental duties. The post is based in Lund, Sweden.

To apply, submit a CV, personal letter, degree certificates/transcripts proving eligibility, a copy of your master's thesis, and any additional supporting documents. Applications may be written in Swedish or English. Deadline: 2026-08-31.
