About this position
Centre Energie, Environnement, Procédés (CEEP) at Mines Paris - PSL is recruiting a PhD student for a thesis on thermo-physiological modeling and AI control for personalized thermal comfort in electric vehicles.
The project focuses on cabin air conditioning and HVAC control, addressing the limits of steady-state comfort models such as Fanger’s PMV in transient, non-uniform vehicle cabins. The doctoral research will develop a 3D thermo-physiological occupant model, validate it through human-subject experiments, and then simplify it into real-time AI-based controllers that balance individual comfort with energy consumption.
This opportunity is based in Versailles, France, and the thesis duration is 36 months, starting in January 2027.
Ideal applicants hold a Master’s degree in mechanical, energy, or automotive engineering, with a strong background in heat transfer, Python/MATLAB programming, and an interest in human thermoregulation and machine learning.
Application details and the procedure are provided in the attached PDF.
