About this position

Université de Strasbourg is offering a 12-month postdoctoral research fellow position in neurostimulation within the NINO project, jointly conducted by ICube UMR 7357 (MLMS team) and Inria (NECTARINE team) in Strasbourg, France.

The project focuses on developing non-invasive neuromodulation methods for future applications in clinical psychiatry. The research combines EEG analysis, optimal experimental design, closed-loop control, and reinforcement learning to improve stimulation delivery in real time and support personalized medicine approaches. The successful candidate will analyze EEG recordings from human participants performing a Sustained Attention to Response Task (SART), develop optimization methods for neurostimulation parameters, and formulate the closed-loop problem using machine learning and computational neuroscience approaches.

The role is based at ICube UMR 7357 and Inria NECTARINE, a newly established team focused on neuromodulation and psychiatric disorders. The wider collaborative environment includes experienced researchers in neuromodulation, EEG experimentation, and time-series analysis, with access to shared human EEG datasets for offline analysis.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD degree obtained less than 3 years ago and have proficiency in EEG acquisition and processing. Experience with neurostimulation or brain-computer interfaces, and a background in computational neuroscience, engineering, or machine learning, are expected. Familiarity with MNE (Python) and EEGLAB (Matlab) is considered an advantage. Strong English communication and teamwork skills are required.

The appointment is a full-time postdoctoral contract starting on 1 April 2027. The application deadline is 27 October 2026.

How to apply: send your CV, cover letter, and diploma to [email protected]. The contact person for information on the position is Camille Gontier at ICube/Inria.
