About this position

PhD position at the Chair of Chemosensory Food Systems, Technical University of Munich (TUM), within the TUM School of Life Sciences.

The project focuses on the screening, identification, and quantification of sensorially active and bioactive natural products in processed foods and plant-based raw materials. It also examines their metabolism, structure-activity relationships, and how food-derived compounds and metabolites interact with the gut microbiome.

Research methods include instrumental natural product analysis and metabolomics, with food intervention studies to track which compounds appear in the human body after consumption, how they are transformed, and how they can be structurally characterized and biologically evaluated.

The project is carried out in cooperation with the ZIEL – Institute for Food & Health at TUM.

Funding: the position is offered for 3 years with remuneration according to TV-L/E13 at 65%.

Applications should be sent electronically to Prof. Dr. Corinna Dawid at [email protected].
