About this position

The Faculty of Behavioral Sciences and Psychology at the University of Lucerne (Switzerland) is advertising a 50% PhD position in Developmental Psychology / Healthy Aging starting on 1 January 2027 (or by agreement).

The position is embedded in the SNSF-funded Ambizione project “The impact of stress on everyday memory performance in younger and older couples: A laboratory-based and real-life investigation.” The project examines how younger and older couples jointly regulate stress and how relationship conflicts and everyday stressors relate to relationship quality, emotional well-being, and cognitive performance, especially prospective memory.

Research activities include study design, participant recruitment, data collection, data processing and analysis, scientific writing, conference presentations, teaching, supervision of BSc/MSc theses, and coordination/training of staff and students. The role offers close supervision, a collegial team atmosphere, opportunities to develop your own research interests, and access to a modern behavioral science and psychophysiological laboratory.

Eligibility highlights: an excellent Master’s degree in Psychology, strong motivation to pursue a doctorate, strong interest in adulthood developmental psychology and dyadic/social relationships, excellent German and English, and comfort with data work (experience with dyadic/longitudinal data analysis is an advantage).
