About this position

Liverpool John Moores University School of Psychology is launching a new fully online MSc Psychology (Conversion), with the first cohort beginning in January 2027. The programme is designed for graduates from non-psychology backgrounds and is intended to open postgraduate psychology study to students across the UK and internationally.

The MSc is delivered entirely by LJMU’s School of Psychology, using the university’s own virtual learning environment and academic staff. Students will have access to university resources, regular online office hours, and direct supervision from School academics and research supervisors. The format is predominantly asynchronous, making it suitable for people balancing work, family, or other commitments.

Academic content includes biological psychology, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, individual differences, and research methods. The degree culminates in an independent empirical research project, giving students experience in psychological research design and analysis.

The programme is aligned with the curriculum and academic expectations of the British Psychological Society (BPS) for accredited conversion programmes, although it is not yet BPS accredited because it is a new programme. LJMU intends to apply for accreditation once the programme is operational.

This is a master’s-level opportunity rather than a PhD or postdoctoral opening. It is fully online and does not require relocation to Liverpool. For enquiries, the post lists [email protected], [email protected], and programme contact [email protected] (Dr Ricardo Tejeiro, School of Psychology).
