About this position

Radboud University is advertising a PhD Position: Fatigue in Motion within the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Sensorimotor Neuroscience group at the Donders Centre for Cognition in the Netherlands.

This project studies how fatigue affects gait, balance, and functional mobility in people with neurological disorders. The research combines physiological measurements, plethysmography, motion analysis, and wearable sensors to understand how physical and cognitive fatigue influence movement in the lab and in daily life.

The PhD is embedded in the NWO-TTW funded Care is Coming Home programme, a multidisciplinary consortium focused on home-based healthcare and rehabilitation technologies. The project is carried out in close collaboration with Sint Maartenskliniek and Kinetic Analysis.

Applicants should have an MSc degree in Human Movement Sciences, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Technical Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, or a related field. Experience with movement analysis, physiological measurements, and/or qualitative research methods is preferred, together with strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills in Dutch and English.

This is a paid PhD employment with a 4-year trajectory: an initial 1.5-year contract followed by a 2.5-year extension after positive evaluation. Salary starts at €3,204 gross per month and rises to €4,051 in the fourth year, plus holiday allowance, end-of-year bonus, leave days, and pension benefits.

Deadline: 30 September 2026. Apply only via the online portal and address the application letter to Prof. dr. N. Keijsers.
