The project focuses on designing, fabricating, and measuring silicon nitride ribbon torsional resonators coupled directly via magnetic flux to a superconducting qubit, with the goal of exploring the quantum behaviour of heavy, macroscopic objects and testing fundamental ideas about gravity and quantum theory.

You will work in the Kavli Nanolab, a state-of-the-art cleanroom facility in Delft, and join a diverse team of academic staff, PhD students, and postdocs. The role offers hands-on experience in complex nanofabrication, quantum measurements, and control of superconducting quantum bits, with opportunities to collaborate with local and international experimental and theoretical researchers.

Eligibility: an MSc in physics is required; an MSc in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering may also be suitable if you have strong motivation and relevant experience in quantum mechanics or nanomechanics. English proficiency is required for doctoral study at TU Delft.
