About this position

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in experimental quantum physics at the Department of Physics, Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), South Korea, within the QuantERA-funded ENTUNE project: Entangled and Tunable Nanomechanical Quantum Systems.

The position is in the Hybrid Quantum Device group led by Prof. Junho Suh. The research focuses on a new class of superconducting device, the vacuum-gap Josephson junction (vJJ), where mechanical motion tunes the Josephson coupling. The project aims to realize voltage-driven mechanical quantum states and mechanically encoded Schrödinger cat states, combining quantum nanomechanics, superconducting circuits, nanofabrication, and quantum-limited microwave detection.

The postdoc will work on nanofabrication of suspended vJJs, millikelvin cryogenic characterization, integration into superconducting circuits for quantum-state generation, and microwave detection/tomography, in close collaboration with theory partners in a five-partner European–Korean consortium.

Eligibility: a PhD in experimental condensed matter physics, quantum physics, or a closely related field completed by the start date. Preferred experience includes e-beam lithography, dilution refrigerator measurements, superconducting circuits, Josephson junctions, nanoelectromechanical systems, and quantum-limited microwave detection. International collaboration experience is a plus.

Funding: the position is funded through ENTUNE and paid according to the standard POSTECH postdoctoral scale, described as competitive with comparable international positions. The appointment is annual and may be extended up to 3 years total, subject to performance and funding.

Application: send a single PDF containing a cover letter, CV with publication list, short research statement, and two references to [email protected]. Use the subject line ENTUNE Postdoc Application - [Your Name]. Review begins immediately and continues until the position is filled.
