About this position
University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) is advertising a three-year PhD Research Fellow position in Management focused on motivation, work motivation, employee well-being, performance, recovery, and work-related health.
The position is based at the Department of Business, Marketing, and Law at the USN School of Business, with the place of work at campus Hønefoss, Norway. The successful candidate will join the Work Motivation and Optimal Functioning research group headed by Professor Anja Hagen Olafsen. The group’s research interests include motivational processes at work, remote and flexible work, sustainable work functioning, and the effects of digitalization, artificial intelligence, leadership, organizational change, and demographic change on employees.
This PhD project should fit within the thematic areas of the research group and may address questions related to organizational psychology and/or management, especially using quantitative methods. Applicants are expected to propose a short preliminary research project (4–5 pages) with research questions, theory, design, data collection plan, timeline, and references.
Eligibility highlights: a Master of Science degree (normally 120 ECTS) in business administration, human resource management, organizational behavior/psychology, or a similar field; documented competence in both quantitative and qualitative methods; at least one methodology course at master’s level; a weighted average grade of B or higher; master’s thesis submitted by the deadline; and documented English proficiency. Applicants with education outside Norway must obtain HK-dir approval before the deadline. Applicants from outside Europe must also provide GMAT or GRE scores before interview.
Funding: the position is fully salaried as a PhD research fellowship, with salary according to the Norwegian State salary scale for position code 1017 (NOK 550,800), plus pension and related public service benefits.
