About this position

The Institute of Biophysics of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Brno, Czech Republic, is recruiting a PhD student for its Scientific Department of Cell Biology and Epigenetics.

The project focuses on the role of histone deacetylases and epigenetic modifications of histones in DNA repair mechanisms. The successful candidate will work with mouse and human cell models and cell culture, and will use techniques including immunofluorescence, advanced confocal microscopy, local chromatin microirradiation, and proteomic methods such as Western blotting and immunoprecipitation.

This is a part-time position (0.5 FTE) with an expected start date of 1 September 2026 and a fixed duration until 30 April 2027. Applicants are expected to hold a university degree in biology, biochemistry, or a related field, and to have hands-on experience with the listed laboratory techniques and methods. English at B2 level is required, together with independence, teamwork, analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and good communication skills.
